What the customer needed
The homeowner wanted to protect the foundation while keeping heavy roof runoff away from the front porch and a garden bed below two roof valleys.
What shaped the plan
This single-story light-brick home has a shingle roof with an approximately 4-on-12 pitch. Two front roof valleys concentrate water near the porch and landscaping, while the covered back patio adds another long collection edge.
The system and the reasoning
Mac recommended a full wrap of dark gray 6-inch seamless gutters with matching 3-by-4 downspouts, placing discharge points near the home's corners and at intervals of about 30 feet.
